Dr. Kelly King

Kelly King, MD

Dr. King is a Board Certified Internal Medicine doctor and Hospitalist. She received her Pre-Med Degree in Chemistry and Biology from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She then moved to Denver to attend University of Colorado School of Medicine. After graduating, she completed an Internship and Residency at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

A highlight from her student days was working in Australia with the Royal Flying Doctor Service where she worked to provide emergency medical and primary health care services to anyone who lives, works or travels in rural and remote Australia. This opportunity allowed her to treat people from a variety of cultures, including the native Aboriginal tribes.

Originally from Abilene, Texas, Dr. King returned to Western Colorado to establish her practice in Grand Junction where she has been seeing patients, both at her private practice and area hospitals, for 20 years. In her free time she enjoys reading, singing, and caring for her 2 rescue cats Taz and Ginger Snap. Dr. King has an adult daughter who is pursuing a career in Social Work.

Dr. King grew up deaf, which forced her to learn how to “listen” to people in other ways than using her hearing. After 25 surgeries and 3 eardrum transplants she now has the gift of hearing. This experience has influenced her communication style with patients by giving her a unique insight to understanding people beyond just listening to their words. She likes to give her patients power by being their peer in their healing, not just an overseer.
