JOB PURPOSE: To improve the health and well being of our communities.
BASIC FUNCTION: The Lab Tech performs diagnostic testing on patient samples to aid physicians in the diagnosis and/or monitoring of various disease states. Performs manual and automated routine medical lab tests such as urinalyses and blood counts. Prepares specimens for examination by microscope. Operates laboratory equipment including centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators. Conducts only waived and moderate level testing as classified by CLIA. Reports test results as accurately as possible to ensure quality control. Prepares samples for testing. Uses microscopes, a variety of chemicals, computers and precision instruments to perform complex analyses. May perform supervisory and administrative duties under the direction of the Laboratory Director. Performs clerical tasks related to laboratory services. Follows standardized procedures. Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of a two-year associate degree program in Medical Laboratory Technology or BS in Medical Technology or equivalent is required. Must be ASCP / AMT certified or equivalent. Must have current BLS card within 3 months of initial employment and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.
Experience: 1 to 2 years of professional experience preferred.
