On May 15th, 2023 Grand River Health met Valley View Hospital on the courts for a charity basketball game. Fun was had by all and over $15,000 was raised for the non-profit A Way Out, a regional nonprofit that offers resources for people living with substance abuse disorders.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kevin Coleman, who coached for Grand River, said he takes after infamous University of Indiana coach Bobby Knight. The team also starred former Metro State player Chelsea Lawrenz and Luke Braby, who helped Grand Valley High School win the state basketball tourney in 2007.
