Grand River Health has proudly operated the Meals on Wheels program since 1976 and with your help we can ensure this program keeps offering low-cost and free meals to the local citizens who need them.
Grand River Meals on Wheels received over $65,000 through past grants and gifts from Subaru National and Glenwood Springs Subaru. Thank you Subaru and MOWA! We continue to provide Grand River meals on Wheels services to meet the needs of the growing home-bound and elderly clients, especially during the time of economic uncertainty. Our Meals on Wheels have increased by 30% delivering over 17,000 meals! If you would like to donate to this organization please give Dee a call at 970-625-6215.
We deliver meals to elderly, disabled, home bound, and recovering individuals.
We deliver to New Castle, Silt, Rifle, and Parachute/Battlement Mesa.
We have three different diets to offer: regular, diabetic, or cardiac. Each meal comes with a hot meal, which includes a protein, vegetable, and a starch. It also comes with a cold pack, which has a salad, dessert, and a milk or water.
We strive to get our drivers out the door with meals not later than 11:30 a.m. Clients should receive their meals between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
We deliver one bag of cat or dog food once a month to keep our client’s furry companions happy and healthy.
Our volunteers and knitting group puts together goodie bags for all of our clients!
Grand River Meals On Wheels clients are delivered in the winter to be used in case of bad weather in which Meals on Wheels is unable to deliver. Bags are packed with 48 hours of shelf stable foods.
If yourself or a loved one would benefit from Meals on Wheels, signing up is easy and fast!
You are eligible for the program if you live in New Castle, Silt, Rifle, Parachute, or Battlement Mesa. When you call to sign up, you will be asked some questions about where you live, your diet, your food preferences, contact information, and other details to make sure you are getting the most out of the program. From there, we try to get you on the appropriate route within 24 hours of your first phone call.
If you would like to sign yourself or a loved one up for Meals on Wheels, would like more information, or make a donation please call 970.625-6215 or e-mail Dee Warwick. Your donation means the world to our clients!
