Grand River Health’s Medical Surgical Unit offers our community compassionate, quality patient care close to home. Our patients speak very highly of our care, compassion, and quality services they receive. We are not a sprawling unit, and because of this, we can give patients the attention they deserve.
Patients on the Medical Surgical Unit receive 24 hour medical care from our nursing staff and physicians. Grand River Health offers 25 single rooms, one isolation room, and four higher-acuity rooms in our Step-Down ICU Unit. This allows for us to provide care for patients of all ages with general acute medical conditions and patients recovering from surgery. Depending on the patient’s needs and condition, specialists, including therapists, social workers, nutritionists, and other medical professionals provide services right at the patient’s bedside when possible. Our staff is able to provide specialized monitoring for patients who need it with the use of portable, wireless equipment right in their room. This allows nursing staff to closely watch vital signs and other important health information.
We love children and small infants and they are welcome in the Medical Care Unit. We advise the parents to be aware that since they are in a hospital, they may be exposed to communicable diseases.
To reach a patient by phone, dial 970.625.1510 and ask to be transferred to that patient’s room.
Visiting Hours
We believe that seeing family and friends during a hospital stay is an important part of the patient’s overall recovery. For this reason, visitors can come anytime between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, and overnight stays can be arranged by the nursing staff depending on patient volumes.
