You may have seen or heard around the community a little buzz about a new feature Grand River Health has installed in our 2nd Floor Clinic, but in case you haven’t, here are some details!
The Vroom project was an idea that was brought to Grand River Health’s attention by our Pediatricians, Dr. Anna Lorenson, Dr. Nichole Feeney and Dr. Colby Quintenz. What is Vroom? “Vroom is an innovative global program created by the Bezos Family Foundation. Vroom helps parents boost their child’s learning during the time they already spend together. Vroom meets parents where they are, through the people they already trust and the places they already go.” – Vroom.org
Denise Clough, Director of 2nd Floor Clinics, shared how important this feature is to our community. “The new VROOM installation is for families visiting the clinic who will now see VROOM messages everywhere they look. For this project, we featured our favorite Vroom activities on unique exam room posters, an interactive mirror scape and a giant waiting room mural. Our mirror scape encourages parents to help show their children that they have what it takes to be ANYTHING they dream. The mural reflects the Rifle community – down to every flower, fish and activity represented on the mural. Activity prompts on the side of the mural encourage parents to interact with their children to find shapes in the clouds, items of various colors and more.”
While you are attending an appointment with your child, you can interact with them through the various prompts of the program either in the waiting room, or in your exam room. This is a perfect opportunity to help your child grow. In addition, you can scan one of the QR codes found on the various signs throughout the clinic and exam rooms to get more information about that subject and others that may be of interest to you and your child.
In addition to these on-site features, you can download the free Vroom app on your mobile device, where many of the Vroom activities are free. Fill out some basic information about your child and receive age-specific information and activities for you to carry on the learning experiences OUTSIDE of the Grand River Health clinics. Vroom educational activities encourage your child to use their brain power anytime, anywhere and are at no cost to our patients.
If you haven’t had an opportunity to view the Vroom mural and mirror scape, be sure to stop by the 2nd floor clinic waiting area to see the positive changes that promote learning and growth, happening here at Grand River Health.
The mural and mirror scape were paid for by a Grand River Health Caring and Sharing grant. Caring and Sharing is funded by donations from our very generous Grand River Health staff, to be used for patient care and community satisfaction projects.
