Grand River Health is proud to announce that it is now an official Certified Application Assistance Site (CAAS), further strengthening its commitment to improving access to healthcare resources throughout the community.
CAAS stands for Certified Application Assistance Site, a designation that allows Grand River Health to assist community members in applying for state medical benefits, including Medicaid and Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) for children.
This new certification establishes Grand River Hospital as a trusted local resource for individuals and families who may need guidance navigating the often complex application process for medical coverage. The service is especially valuable for residents with limited mobility or those without reliable internet access.
“Our goal has always been to remove barriers to care,” said Annick Pruett Grand River Health’s Chief Community Relations Officer. “Becoming a CAAS site ensures that our community members have personalized, in-person support when applying for important medical benefits.”
How the CAAS Program Works
Grand River Health’s certified CAAS technicians provide one-on-one assistance to individuals seeking coverage. During an appointment, technicians:
- Conduct an initial assessment, including demographic and household information
- Review income details
- Verify required documentation
- Help complete and submit benefit applications
While CAAS technicians do not make final eligibility determinations, their support helps create a more streamlined and efficient process. In many cases, applicants may receive a final decision in as little as five business days.
