Jamal grew up in Pennsylvania, where he often experienced injuries from various sports and activities. These experiences, coupled with his frequent visits to physical therapy, sparked his interest in pursuing a career in this field to help others. His sister is also a physical therapist, which further encouraged his path into healthcare. While Jamal has a natural affinity for sports—something he attributes to being a PT—his focus is on proactive care. He aims to help patients avoid injuries and pain by screening them before problems arise, allowing him to address any issues as they occur and then return to preventive measures to avoid future complications. He advocates for a holistic approach to treat any related issues stemming from a current injury.
Colorado has always held a special place in Jamal’s heart, particularly for its abundant recreational opportunities in the mountains. A rotation in Denver deepened his appreciation for the area, where he enjoyed activities like rock climbing, mountain biking, and skiing. It was during a skiing trip in Vail that Jamal and his wife discovered Rifle, which presented a chance to immerse themselves in their dream lifestyle in the mountains. They quickly made arrangements to transition to rural healthcare among the Rockies, bringing along their cat, Porter.
