Orthopaedics is the medical specialty that focuses on injuries and diseases of your body’s musculoskeletal system. This complex system includes your bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and nerves and allows you to move, work, and be active.

The orthopedic services Grand River Health provides include (but are not limited to):

Our Orthopaedists care for patients of all ages, from newborns with clubfeet and student athletes requiring arthroscopic surgery due to an injury to older people with arthritis. And unfortunately, anybody can break a bone at any age, we’re here to care for all of your orthopaedic needs.

Daniel Goldberg, MD

Daniel Goldberg, MD is an orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine and shoulder surgery. His clinical interests include arthroscopic treatment of knee, shoulder, and hip conditions as well as shoulder replacements. He specializes in the treatment of shoulder conditions including injuries to the labrum and rotator cuff. He treats a wide array of knee conditions, with particular interest in ACL injuries, meniscus tears, cartilage defects.

He completed fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the University of California San Francisco, where he had the opportunity to care for amateur and professional athletes, including serving as a team physician for the San Francisco Giants. Prior to that, he completed residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, receiving training in orthopedic trauma, joint replacement and general orthopedics. He graduated cum Laude from Albany Medical College and where he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He is moving to the Western Slope with his wife, who is a family medicine physician, and their two young children.

Dr. Hugh Brock

Dr. Brock is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, performing general orthopedic and some hand procedures as well as specializing in joint replacements, including revisions.

Dr. Brock received his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Willamette University in 1998 and went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 2005. He completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS in 2010. He then went to Stanford University Hospital, CA, to complete a fellowship in adult reconstruction surgery in 2011. Dr. Brock has been board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery since 2014.

The Brock family loves to take advantage of the outdoors, which is their primary attraction to western Colorado. They like to spending time together camping, hiking, snowboarding, fishing and playing basketball.

When asked why he chose Grand River Health, he said, “In addition to an improved quality of life, I am looking forward to connecting with this community and establishing relationships, something that is much easier to do in a small community.” When asked about his philosophy about practicing medicine, he remarked, “I believe the key is making a good connection by being attentive and listening to the patient. After establishing a diagnosis, I like to present all available treatment options, so we can determine the most appropriate plan to best achieve their health goals. It is important the patient is involved in the decision-making process so that they are invested in their care.”

Dr. Lindsay Harris is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with a sub-specialty certification in Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and The American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Harris comes to Grand River Health from Aspen Orthopedic Associates and specializes in Sports Medicine. Dr. Harris has served as the team physician for the US Ski Team and the Medical Director for the Aspen World Cup Ski Race Team.

Corey Forsythe

A proud military veteran, Corey spent 6 years in the Army National Guard. He graduated from Liberty University in southern Virginia, then completed his graduate studies at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Though Corey grew up in Lancaster, PA, he spent most of his school years in large metropolitan areas. In college, he was an NCAA competitive snowboarder and rock climber. He is happy to be returning to a more rural setting, especially one so close to his passions of rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking. He also enjoys spending time with his extended family in Rifle and Vail, and his Australian Shepherd, Nash.

Corey is devoted to providing empathetic and patient-centered care.  He truly understands the pain and struggles of his patients since he himself has had first-hand experience after healing from his own active-lifestyle injuries.

Karen graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine and quickly found her fit in Sports Medicine. Since 2005, she has cared for the diverse orthopaedic needs of the Rocky Mountain community, where she was raised. After starting a family of her own, Karen spent 3 years practicing family medicine in Carbondale, but happily returned to her career in orthopaedic surgery at Grand River Hospital in 2017. She has enjoyed traveling and serving in many parts of the world, including surgical missions. She lives outside of Glenwood Springs with her daughter, where she fly fishes, trail runs and skis.

A native to Colorado, Chelsea grew up in Boulder. She attended Metropolitan State University where she played for the varsity basketball team. She then received her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. After her formal training, she moved to Baltimore where she completed a Physician Assistant Emergency Medicine Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

After 2 years in Baltimore, Chelsea and her, now husband, packed up their chocolate lab and moved home to Colorado. They couldn’t be more happy living on the western slope and working with the amazing people, and community at Grand River Hospital.
