When Should I See a Wound Care Specialist?
A wound that does not always heal as it should could put you at risk for infection and more serious
complications. Wounds can also cause pain and discomfort which can decrease your activity and quality of life. Wounds that do not heal in a timely matter need more specialized care.
With chronic wounds, the healing process is affected by risk factors as well as a variety of complications that require expertise.
Managing Wounds as a Team
Your wound care is coordinated with your primary care provider and includes a complete team of therapists and specialists.
With a complete team certified in wound care, patient outcomes are better. As a multidisciplinary team, the combined expertise and diverse clinical knowledge covers a wider range of modalities to improve wound healing and thus, improve quality of life. The ability to call upon many specialists increases your wound healing success.
