Lynn Ames, PMHNP-BC
Lynn Ames is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) who brings a compassionate, whole-person approach to care. Known for her ability to meet patients exactly where they are, without judgment, Lynn is committed to helping individuals feel heard, understood and supported on their path to wellness.
Originally from Michigan, Lynn moved to Colorado in 2006 and began a diverse and hands-on career in healthcare. She started as a scrub technician before earning her Associate Degree in Nursing from Colorado Mountain College in 2012. Lynn went on to teach sterile techniques in obstetrics, where she taught nursing and cleaning staff how to reduce the risk of infection and developed a strong appreciation for continuity of care throughout the patient journey.
While initially pursuing a Master’s degree to become a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, Lynn rediscovered her true passion for mental health. She completed her advanced training through Frontier Nursing University in Kentucky, driven by a desire to better serve underserved populations and address the gaps she saw in mental health diagnosis and treatment.
Lynn believes that effective care goes beyond prescriptions. Her philosophy centers on holistic, individualized treatment, recognizing that natural approaches and lifestyle factors can be just as important as medication. She takes time to truly know her patients as people, creating care plans that are tailored, thoughtful, and never one-size-fits-all.
As a provider, Lynn finds fulfillment in guiding patients toward wellness and witnessing the positive ripple effects in their lives, families, and communities. She is also passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health treatment and empowering others to seek the care they deserve.
Outside of her practice, Lynn enjoys spending time outdoors in the Colorado sunshine, especially near the water, and cherishes time with her growing family, including her 12 grandchildren.
